AI-powered insights to support students who can't always speak for themselves. Bridging the communication gap between home and school for children with similar neurodivergent communication challenges.
Our mission is to ensure that every child is seen and heard—even when they can't speak. By bringing parent-trained insights into the classroom, we're transforming how schools support students with communication challenges.
The Challenge
For Teachers
Lack real-time insights about students' needs, especially during high-stress situations when communication is most difficult.
Often resort to generic approaches that don't address individual needs.
For Parents
Experience burnout from repeatedly explaining their child's unique needs to multiple school staff members.
Constant worry about whether their child is properly understood at school.
For School Therapists
Miss critical day-to-day context that impacts care effectiveness and progress tracking.
Struggle to coordinate approaches between home and school environments.
Schools lack the tools to scale individualized care for students with communication challenges, creating emotional stress and operational inefficiency for everyone involved.
Born From Personal Experience
Real Problem
Created by a parent of an 8-year-old with Selective Mutism who experienced firsthand the communication gaps between home and school.
Real Emotional Stakes
Every day an SM child is misunderstood is a day of lost potential, increased anxiety, and missed opportunities for growth and connection.
Real Insight
Our founder's lived experience has revealed both what's broken in the current system and what's needed to fix it—personal insights that can only come from being in the trenches.
This isn't just another EdTech startup—it's a mission born from necessity and powered by the love of a parent who understands that every child deserves to be heard.
Introducing Parrot
Parent-Trained AI
Parents build a digital understanding of their child through simple, guided interactions.
Intuitive Interface
Teachers ask natural questions like "What's going on with Mia today?" or "What are some tactics Mia uses at home to self soothe after a stressful situation?"
Personalized Guidance
Parrot responds instantly with specific insights based on it's built-in SM knowledge, the student's IEP, daily updates, and the parent's lived knowledge.
Privacy-First Design
Parrot uses the latest end-to-end encryption standards to keep all shared information secure and private.
Parrot bridges the communication gap between home and school-ensuring that every adult supporting a child has access to the same personalized understanding—without requiring constant parent availability.
*Not intended for generalized anxiety or therapy/medical use and does not integrate with school databases or collect clinical data (FERPA/HIPAA) in MVP.
How Parrot Works
Training
Parents build their child's profile through uploads, voice notes, and simple behavior tracking. The more they share, the smarter Parrot becomes about their child's specific needs.
Teacher Access
With parent permission, teachers access a simple chat interface where they can ask questions and receive immediate guidance—no technical expertise required.
Ongoing Learning
As parents add notes about new triggers, successful strategies, or changing needs, Parrot continuously updates its guidance to all authorized users.
"The Parrot File"
Digital record tracking a child's growth - their insights, progress, and communication strategies. Becomes a personal file they can reflect on, advocate with, and add to independently.
*No school onboarding is required—Parrot is initiated and managed by parents, eliminating procurement barriers and ensuring that support follows the child across classrooms, schools, and professionally in the future.
What It Looks Like in the Real World
Before Parrot
Eight-year-old Mia freezes when asked to join a group activity in her new classroom.
Her teacher, Ms. Wilson, assumes she's being difficult and sends her to sit alone, unaware of her selective mutism triggers.
Mia withdraws further, unable to explain her anxiety.
After Parrot
Ms. Wilson checks Parrot before class: "Mia struggles with transitions. Group activities cause anxiety."
When Mia hesitates, Ms. Wilson offers a gentle alternative: "Would you like to be my special helper instead?"
Mia smiles and nods, feeling seen and understood without speaking.
